Full title reads: “New Airport opened at Gatwick“. Gatwick, Surrey / West Sussex. M/S of Lord Swinton (Minister for Air) giving speech from platform to crowd. He declares the airport officially open. M/S of aeroplane with propellers spinning, preparing for take off. M/S of Union Jack flying. Panning shot of planes lined up on airfield in front of new terminus. Various shots of crowd. Narrator explains Gatwick airport has its own railway station which allows passengers to get to centre of London within half an hour.
