Luxor, the Valleys of the Kings, Queens, and Nobles
At the beginning of the New Kingdom, the Pharaohs chose a new mode of burial, no longer in pyramids but in tombs dug in the rock. In the Valley of the Kings, a total of 62 tombs have been discovered, dug between the middle of the 16th century and the middle of the 11th century BC. The Valley of the Queens contains about 100 tombs not only of queens, but also of princes. The Valley of the Nobles contains 415 tombs of important people in the entourage of the pharaoh.
