Vangelis plays songs of Aphrodite’s Child at Discorama, 1972.
The biographies of Demis Roussos and Vangelis Papathanassiou intersect at many points in their careers. It was in 1966 that both met and, together with Lucas Sideras, decided to leave Greece and go to England, for trying a career with an worldwide projection. Vangelis found in Demis Roussos’ voice the melody necessary to give emphasis to his compositions and musical percussion. Actually, without Demis’ voice, songs like “Rain and Tears“, “End of the World“, “I want to live“ and “It’s five o’clock“ don’t have the same powerful effect, unless if they are instrumentalised by the hands of the genius Vangelis Papathanassiou. Although missing Demis’ unique voice singing these songs, this video shows Vangelis playing them in the TV show Discorama, interviewd by Denise Glaser, in 1972.
Vangelis plays “Rain and Tears“; “End of the world“; “I want to live“ and “It’s five o’clock“. Enjoy it!
