Rattlesnakes belong to the group of venomous snakes called pit vipers (Crotalinae). There are 32 known species of rattlesnakes with 65-70 subspecies, all of them are native to the Americas and ranging from southern British Columbus in Canada to Central America Argentina. Rattlesnakes are predators who live in a wide array of habitats, hunting meanly small animals such as birds and small mammals such as rodents . They kill their prey with a venomous bite. All rattlesnakes possess a set of fangs with which they inject large quantities of hemotoxic venom. The venom travels through the bloodstream, destroying victim’s tissue and causing swelling, internal bleeding, and intense pain.
