The REAL History of How Hamas Was Created | Part 2

Was Hamas really used by an Israeli right-wing fringe to derail the Oslo peace process? In Part two of our series on the real history of how Hamas was created, MintPress staff writer Robert Inlakesh breaks down the argument often made that a kind of Hamas-Netanyahu alliance was formed in order to crush hopes for a two-State solution. This assertion is rooted in an argument that is used to deflect attention from Israel’s actions that were not limited to those taken by governments under Likud Party rule and ignores the context behind the Israeli decision to sign an agreement with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). While some elements of the corporate media have attempted to paint Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as being the “bad apple” in Israel, the narrative that Hamas was created by Israel and sustained by the Israeli PM helps fuel this notion. Placing the actions of Hamas within the historical context they operated within during the 1990’s and early 2000’s debunks the notion that they were one of two primary factors in derailing peace talks.
