ZX Spectrum Longplay [063] Street Fighter II

Played by: Mad-Matt Street Fighter II for Spectrum 128k Some ports should never have been attempted for the ole 8bits, but that never stopped US Gold trying. I own the Tape version of the game, and only played once due to the horrific multiload system where you need to keep reinding Side 2 after its loaded background and then each fighter. Even emulated, its to much to deal with. I used the disk TR-Dos version of the game which has all the files neatly on disk and adds a few additional images. A small bug int his release has the ryu/honda backgrounds the wrong way round (although the colour pallete is correctly loaded, its ment for the other background). Gameplay wise, its just mash the button and hope for the best as you don’t tend to know your being hit, or hitting until the energy bar moves. Graphically the game doesn’t look bad and strangely even has a few objects in the level to break. Its certainly a good effort for what it is on the spectrum, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for playing, maybe just for curiosity. Even after all the effort, the ending is annoyingly unrewarding. I didn’t want to try again on a higher skill level.. - Disclaimer: Most videos by World of Longplays use SaveStates!
