Hover Scooter (1960)

Long Ditton, Surrey. M/S of the hover scooter sitting on the grass as a man, Alistair Pugh, comes into shot. It looks like a funnel with handlebars attached, on top of a circular base with two silver fins sticking up from it. He walks round checking it then climbs astride it. C/Us of the controls as he starts the ignition and of the propellor starting up. M/S as the hover scooter starts to move, and the man stands up to steer it as it glides over the grass, spraying fallen dead leaves about. More M/Ss of the machine gliding around as commentator tells us it was brought over from the United States by a leading motorcycle journal, and goes on to explain the workings of the machine. As Alistair drives from the grass onto a lake we are told “The floating-on-air principal makes it equally adaptable for water travel“; it creates lots of spray while moving about on the water.
