News From The Continent (1962)

Titles read: “NEWS FROM THE CONTINENT“. Various locations of events. General view of the Paris Opera House, France, at night. Footmen stand on the stairs. Debs arrive for the Debutantes’ Ball. The Begum (glamorous widow of the old Aga Khan) arrives. Debs walk across the stage led by dancer Jacques Chaset. The debs curtsey and walk down stairs as the Begum watches. The debs look almost identical in beehives, white dresses and tiaras. Some of the girls with towering hairdos and ornate jewellery come down the stairs, clad in black tights, formfitting black jerseys and feather-trimmed capes. Intertitle reads: “GERMANY“ Various shots of an automatic ’waiter’ service in a Herten restaurant. Diners write their order on a piece of paper, put it in a little tube and drop it onto a moving conveyor belt running around the restaurant.
