Bob Marley & The Wailers - Roots, Rock, Reggae (1976) • TopPop

Today, May 11, 2021, it is 40 years ago that Bob Marley died in Miami, Florida on 11 May 1981, aged 36, due to the spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain. To honour Bob Marley we highlight this Toppop video recorded 45 years ago. Bob Marley and the Wailers were in the Netherlands during his “Rastaman Vibrations“ tour for his first Dutch concert in the Jaap Edenhal in Amsterdam on June 13, 1976, the first of the five concerts Marley ever gave in the Netherlands. During this concert ’Roots, Rock, Reggae’ was the last song on the set and ’Positive Vibration’ was the first encore. The concert ended with ’Get Up Stand Up / War / No More Trouble’. Fortunately, the Toppop recordings have been preserved. They have been used by director Kevin Macdonald for his famous and acclaimed documentary about Bob Marley, entitled ’Marley’ from 2012. This exclusive Toppop video was recorded in a studio in Nederhorst den Berg near Hilversum in June 1976. The recording is, as most Toppop videos, a lip-synch recording. Bunny
