Protesters In Spain Recreate Picasso’s ’Guernica’ In Solidarity With Palestine

Hundreds of protesters in Spain’s Basque country on December 8 formed a human mosaic representing the Palestinian flag alongside a reproduction on a giant banner of Pablo Picasso’s iconic anti-war picture “Guernica” which symbolizes the horrors of war on civilian populations. The protest took place in Guernica’s former market square which was aerial bombed in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War by the German Luftwaffe’s Condor Legion. The demonstration on Friday was organized by the Guernika-Palestina Deialdi Herritarra citizens group. Addressing the crowd with her face covered by a Palestinian keffihey scarf to avoid possible reprisals member of the Guernika-Palestina Citizens’ Initiative, Fatima Elhousari, said the world could not accept a “new Guernica.“ #spain #palestine #israel #gaza #hamas #protest n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
