The Simple Theory Of JAPANESE Music Scales [Pentatonics, Guitar]

We musicians are always on a quest on how to sound “different“, “original“, “new“. And so we are often under pressure to learn new things and make them sound good too! Of course, the ideal situation is when we find something that sounds ’new’ and at the same time is easy to play. There are not many ideas like that around - after all, some of the most interesting things are quite difficult to play - but today we see something that is very easy and very new. Or at least it’s ’new’ if you are a western musician. Today we learn a set of Japanese scales, one better sounding than the other. We see how they are built, and how we can make many more. And if you are like me, you will love that Miyako-Bushi scale. Have fun with the Japanese scales!
