Education Minister Alan Tudge has expressed concerns about the adoption of a new national curriculum which he says doesn’t encourage students to value the “rich, egalitarian, free, western-liberal democracy“ Australia is today. “I do get concerned students don’t have a firm understanding of how we became this rich, egalitarian, free, western-liberal democracy that we are today, that is so attractive for millions of migrants to come here,“ he said. “If you don’t understand that, then you’re less likely to value it and defend it.
