Israel launches airstrikes in Lebanon and Gaza Strip

Israel launched airstrikes on Lebanon and Gaza on Friday in retaliation for rocket attacks it blamed on the Islamist group Hamas. Tensions have been rising in recent days following a raid by Israeli forces on the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Israel separately said it was pursuing suspects after two Israeli women were killed and a third seriously injured in a shooting attack on Friday in the occupied West Bank.
