Electric eels leap from the water to deliver a more powerful shock to an animal they perceive to be a threat, according to research by Vanderbilt University biologist Kenneth Catania. Video footage demonstrates the defensive behavior in slow motion with the aid of an artificial arm and prop crocodile head outfitted with LEDs.
