CHROMALUME I: Adagio for Strings and Singers (Samuel Barber)

Composer: Samuel Barber (1910-1981) Music: Adagio for Strings, Agnus Dei for Double Choir Imagery generated with Runway AI. I mixed together recordings of the instrumental and vocal versions of Barber’s famous Adagio from his String Quartet. It was a good amount of work to get the recordings to line up, and for some sections I actually would play with an antiphonal quality that I had already used in my own composition KYRIE for Double Choir. I do think an organ choir strings version with a bit of antiphony could actually really elevate this work. It takes on a transcendent quality when these soaring falling lines start into counterpoint. Hope you enjoy this version. This was a fun project and a good learning experience for my fledgling baby audio mixing/video creating skills!
