RUSSIA: PRESIDENT YELTSIN LEAVES HOSPITAL FOR A GOVERNMENT REST HOME

(22 Nov 1996) Natural Sound Russian President Boris Yeltsin has left hospital for a government rest home just outside Moscow where he is expected to spend several weeks continuing his convalescence from open heart surgery. It was the latest sign of Yeltsin’s improving health since he underwent a quintuple bypass operation November 5. Security was tight as Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s motorcade left the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow, Friday, and headed off to a government health resort, west of the capital. Although Yeltsin is still on the road to recovery his doctors say he was fit enough to be moved to the health resort in Barvikha, which is a complex including a sanatorium and government residences. The President is expected to spend two or three weeks in the Barvikha resort before returning to his Kremlin office. Find out more about AP Archive: Twitter:
