Sjoerd van Eijck’s OAK fascinated by Ennio Morricone

He graduated from the Tilburg Conservatory in 2016 and took lessons with renowned jazz pianists such as Jeroen van Vliet, Rembrandt Frerichs, Harmen Fraanje and Wolfert Brederode. Sjoerd has made his voice heard in the Dutch jazz scene in recent years. His lyrical playing style is characterized by the classical approach to the piano, where the desire for beauty can be found in every note. His compositions and playing style testify to solid craftsmanship, where he stands out for his touch and rich color palette. He came to Het Concertgemaal with his group OAK. The recently released album Eight is a mix of old and new influences. He combined his fascination with the music of Ennio Morricone (from: “The Hateful Eight”) with his interest in the compositions of the French composer Olivier Messiaen.
