George Robey (1914-1918)

George Robey - with his famous eyebrows at successful dance in aid of Cheurons (Chevrons?) Club. Location of events unknown. Opens with CU of music hall comedian Robey dressed as clown; with ruffled collar; he screws up his face; larks about and acts silly; other faces; laughing; right up behind him; looking over his shoulders. Then great shot from slightly raised position; looking down at couples on the dance floor; dancing past to right. A few seconds of Robey in clown suit wandering among the dancers; then just the couples whirling round on the floor. Women wearing sleeveless dresses with low cut backs; and men in tuxedos - and a few British Army uniforms. Note: I would date this as being from around 1918 or 1919, rather than 1920s. SL. Fashion. hairstyles; social customs; recreation. Nightlife; personalities; theatre. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
