Documentary popular science film about the study of glaciers “The belt of Numi-Torum“.

Today, almost everyone associates the circumpolar Urals with Hiking in the mountains. But, in fact, few people know that there are glaciers in the Urals. This was well known to Soviet scientists - Alexander Aleshkov, Sergei Boch and Leonid Dolgushin. A group of modern scientists - ethnographers, students and journalists headed by one of the leading glaciologists of Russia – Mikhail Ivanov went to study the small glaciers of Russia in order to visit the glaciers and monitor their current state. In Soviet times, there were 145 glaciers in the Urals, and more than 50 in the circumpolar Urals. No one knows exactly how many of them are left now. Members of the expedition visited two glaciers “Ugra“ and “Mansi“. On one of them, the expedition members found stones marked with yellow oil paint – these are stones from the “Bocha line“. You can learn about the results of the expedition by watching the film “The belt of Numi-Torum“.
