(Zwv 139) ; 2OB.; 2VN.;B.C.: Zelenka’s 1724 setting of the Marian prayer “Salve Regina“, normally called an antiphon when used in a liturgical context, is his second of probably only two that were written for a solo voice (in addition 4 chorus-settings survive). The first solo work, a “Salve Regina“ (Zwv 204) from 1719 for solo soprano, was later elaborated with a richer instrumentation as Zwv 135, in 1730.
