He first came to prominence when he won the UEFA Cup and Champions League with Porto in consecutive seasons. Having beaten Celtic 3-2 in 2003, Mourinho’s men went onto win Europe’s premiere competition by defeating Didier Deschamps’ Monaco in the Champions League a year later. His success at Porto didn’t go unnoticed and in the summer of 2004, moved to Chelsea where he would manage the Blues in the first of two spells. Having smashed several records in his debut season whilst winning the League Cup and Premier League (Chelsea’s first in 50 years), Mourinho won the league again in his second season.
