GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Canadiens () | Letang Scores Two

The Penguins played their third game in five days, this time facing off against the Montreal Canadiens. Halfway through the 1st, Mike Matheson intercepted a breakout pass and made the Penguins pay. Matheson took advantage of the open space in front of him and scored. Shortly after, the Penguins responded with a goal of their own. Evgeni Malkin gathered the loose puck on the goal line and moved it high in the zone to Kris Letang on the Point. Letang shot the puck, with Drew O’Connor screening in front, and his perfectly placed shot found the bottom corner of the net. Building on their goal, the Penguins scored two unanswered goals in the 2nd. Bryan Rust scored on a tip-in shot from Erik Karlsson only six seconds into the power-play. Following right after, O’Connor fired a laser beam at the top shelf of the net. The Penguins held a 3-1 lead at the end of the 2nd.
