We used a cage with 200 female Yellow Fever mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) to demonstrate this very clearly: Patrick, our fearless mosquito breeding specialist, introduces his hand while holding a smartphone with an activated anti-mosquito app into the cage and gets countless mosquito bites within only a few seconds. For comparison, he spread an efficient mosquito repellent (30% DEET) on his arm, and introduces the arm into the cage. Some mosquitoes land for a moment, but they fly away without biting.
