Uganda’s Independence Day celebrated in Moscow

Uganda’s Independence Day celebrated in Moscow Held on Friday evening at the GlavUpDK cultural center under the Russian foreign ministry, the event featured Russian and African diplomats, including Uganda’s Ambassador Moses K. Kizige and Anatoly Bashkin, Director of the Africa Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to speeches by distinguished guests, the celebration included colorful performances and the ceremonial cutting of a cake, Sputnik Africa correspondents reported. Uganda became independent on October 9, first within the British dominion system in 1962, and later declaring itself a republic on the same day in 1963.
