General Dynamics (now Raytheon) Phalanx CIWS, HMAS Darwin (FFG-04)

A demonstration of the General Dynamics / Raytheon Phalanx CIWS aboard the HMAS Darwin (FFG-04), an Adelaide class (Oliver Hazard Perry class modified to RAN specifications) guided missile frigate. Filmed during the 2013 Sydney International Fleet Review at Fleet Base East, Garden Island on Monday 7 October 2013. The Phalanx CIWS has been nicknamed the R2-D2 due to its resemblance to the Star Wars robotic character.
