Ain’t Misbehavin’ - Benny Carter Live At Princeton Vol. 5

Long before he became an international icon, trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie spent an influential period in Benny Carter’s band - this inspired 1979 reunion in Princeton is by definition an immediate jazz classic. Stanley Jordan, then a Princeton student, sat in with the band at the end of the concert, making it all the more an historic evet. Although they were born only 10 years apart, Gillespie told the audience on this evening that “When I grow up, I want to be just like Benny Carter!” This recording is also notable in that it captures the only time we can hear Gillespie accompanied by a master of be-bop piano, Barry Harris.
