Titles read: “TRAGEDIES OF THE AIR“. Pacific Ocean. Various shots of the Pan American “Samoan Clipper“ Sikorsky S-42 flying boat, of US Transport and the crew of the aeroplane. C/U of pilot Captain Edwin Musick. Sacks of mail are loaded onto the seaplane which then takes off. Several shots of men wearing headphones and sitting at navigational equipment, intercut with air to air shots of the seaplane in flight. Commentator explains that the Clipper sent out a radio distress signal and then crashed into the ocean. The crash occurred on 11 January 1938. Montana, United States of America. Several shots of the smoking wreckage of a Northwest air liner - a Lockheed 14 Super Electra - that crashed in flames in the snow-covered mountains of Montana.
