Perception BEYOND Your Physical Five Senses

Is it possible to see with our fingers or smell with our eyes? How does the wisdom of Kabbalah describe perception through the five senses? What are the qualities and quantities of our desires? What are reshimot? Is there a reality outside of me? Why do I need the physical senses to depict an external world around me? What can we learn through the wisdom of Kabbalah? Soviet scientist Isaac Goldberg claimed to have a patient who could see with her fingers. He gathered his highly skeptical colleagues together to put his claim to the test. They created several devices to make sure Rosa, the patient, could not use her eyes, a wall with a hole for the patient to be able to pass through her hand only. With the whole equipment in place, Rosa passed her fingers across the pages of a book that was randomly selected and read the text accurately. Rosa, like her many family members, was blind, and maybe, over time, she developed such sensitivity to Braille that she could even detect the shape of the ink on the pages. So Dr. Goldberg devised another experiment to find out. They placed a sheet of glass over a newspaper page. Rosa ran her fingers across the glass and could no longer read the text. She could not read the fine print, but she could still read the headlines. Then, researchers put a red light on a green book which gave the combination of blue, which Rosa correctly identified. And when the red light was turned off, Rosa expressed amazement that the book could change color, as she now correctly identified it as green. Finally, Rosa was given a photo. Passing her fingers over it, she could recognize the little girl with her head tilted and with a red ribbon in her hair, correctly “seeing” the photo. Rosa could see with her fingers. And according to more recent research, some people can hear or smell with their eyes. A Harward study describes a patient whose visual part of the brain was destroyed but could still accurately navigate his way through a fearful obstacle course. According to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, all of us used to have such abilities. And we can develop our senses beyond what we can currently imagine. This is because our senses aren’t at all what we think. They are actually five levels of desires that are different in their quality - which Kabbalah calls “clothing” or Hitlabshut in Hebrew - and in their quantity - which Kabbalah calls coarseness or Aviut. They are subject to an ever-emerging chain of Reshimot - records or memories - which are causing all of our sensations in these senses. And each desire consists of all the other desires but on different levels of intensity. So when we lose one of the desires, it can partially be replaced by the other desires. This is why Rosa could see with her fingers. Those Reshimot, or records, that are continuously emerging inside of me are in unison with my desires depicting for me the picture of the world that I see around me, including those sensors that seemingly create this picture. These sensors are also depictions from within me, my nose, ears, eyes, mouth, and fingers. They are also depictions from the inside. What exists outside of me? Nothing. This is why the woman without visual lobes could still see. But we really do need our eyes. Why? In order to have the illusion that there is something in front of me. This gives the person a depiction of one’s own qualities that we are living in a world with. And this causes me to come to very special conclusions about what to do about all these qualities that I see before me. So if I want to change the world around me, the only effective way of doing so is through the Wisdom of Kabbalah because it is the method of internal change through which I can see external changes. — ►Take the Free KabU Course to Find True Answers About Life: This course is a journey into understanding life and how all its pieces come together.
