Nissan’s V12 Group C Race Car | RAW SOUND

The NP35 is Nissan’s best-sounding race car that you’ve probably never heard of. Nissan’s motorsports history was dominated by twin-turbo V6’s, inline 6’s, and even turbo V8’s, but did you know that Nissan once produced a formula 1 inspired V12? Chances are, you’ve likely never heard of this car, and that’s no surprise. The NP35 was built by NISMO and based on the P35 chassis that Nissan’s North American-based motorsports team, NPTI developed for IMSA’s Group C class. The NP35 was powered by a new V12 engine producing a claimed 630hp and revving to 12,000 RPM. While the P35 never raced in Group C, NISMO took the NP35 racing just one time in Japan’s Sports Car Prototype Championship, for the very last race of the 1992 season and what turned out to be the JSCP’s final race as the series was dissolved just after. The NP35 completed the race but was plagued with mechanical problems and finished 25 laps behind the winning car.
