Are Giant Swords Actually Good for Something IRL?

From Cloud’s Buster sword from Final Fantasy to Guts’ Dragonslayer from Berserk, giant swords are iconic in various video games, anime, etc. Intentionally over the top and unrealistic, of course... but are those huge slabs of sharpened metal perhaps good for something in the real world? Let’s dive into some potential ways of using a sword-like object with this kind of size (although not the same ludicrous weight). I’d rather use a more reasonably sized historical two-handed greatsword, that’s for sure. :) *** Credits *** Dark Souls 3 gameplay footage by Boss Fight Database Dragonslayer test by Official Giant Sword Channel Music: “Water Temple“ by El Corleo Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license (CC BY 3.0) “House In a Forest“ by HorrorPen CC BY 3.0 “Wandering Merchant“ by Tausdei CC BY 3.0 “Highland Storm“ by The Slanted Room Records Used with artist’s permission *** Merch *** If you want to join Bonfire to start selling your own merch: *** Support the channel *** Help fund future videos, get bonus content and access to an exclusive Discord server: Other ways to support the channel by shopping through affiliate links: Kult of Athena, my favorite online store for reproductions of historical arms and armor, fantasy swords, etc: Where to get HEMA gear and practice swords: Want to treat your face fluff?
