Something Real (Live Version) - Jonathan Ogden

I wrote this song back in 2019. A cry for authenticity, in my life, in my walk with the Lord. After feeling tired of the constant noise of social media, of putting on a “church face“ and fake smiles when we know deep down there are core things we want to face, real questions, real desires. I think it’s a song that connected with many people in a generation longing for “something real“ - longing for authenticity over hype, substance over style. A song for people longing to break out of routines of going through the motions to really experiencing the love of Jesus and living it out in an authentic way. For people fed up of curating the perfectly aesthetic Instagram feed to show our “perfect life“ rather than being honest about the imperfections with one another. I recorded this song and uploaded it the next day, I didn’t really give it much chance to land on playlists or do all the usual stuff that people recommend. So in some ways it probably went under the radar, but maybe it just found the people it was meant to find. I really enjoyed revisiting it with the band this time to give it a fresh arrangement!
