Fiona and Shane - Anne Byrne

Another LP cut, “Fiona and Shane“, from the album, “I Chose the Green“, sung by the gifted and talented Anne Byrne, circa 1967. On this album, Anne Byrne was backed in instrumentals by Paddy Roche and Mick Crotty. Anne Byrne delivers a haunting and wistful rendition of this beautiful song, backed by sparse guitar and harmonica arrangements. The provenance of this song is still uncertain. There have been few covers of this song in the past 60 years and little information as to its authorship. The video features pictures from the album as well as incorporating images from an Anne Byrne and Jesse Owens’ studio performance of “The Foggy Dew““, likely recorded sometime in the 1960’s.
