Excerpt of Deng Boyu’s Experimental Drum and Electronic Loop Performance for Colin Siyuan Chinnery’s Voluntary Garden Boyu Deng is from Inner Mongolia and is currently based in Beijing. A professional drummer, who has worked with multiple bands including Red Scarf, formed with fellow Voluntary Garden musicians Lao Dan and Li Xing. His works include Rock, Jazz and Improvisation. He is at the same time also a vanguard electronic Musician. Being almost obsessive about constructing a minimalistic ambiance, his works are full of exquisite and whimsy compositions which shows his characteristic aesthetic of sampling and collage.
