Optometry is the healthcare profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as the medical diagnosis and management of eye disease. Contact lenses are thin, curved disks made of flexible plastic or silicone that are placed directly on the surface of the eye to correct vision or for cosmetic or therapeutic purposes.
