Jesse Cook (Official Music Video) Jaleo | ft. Fethi Nadjem
Jesse Cook | Jaleo (Official Music Video) Ft. Fethi Nadjem
After a year of making Covid videos alone in my house, it felt incredibly liberating to go outside and make music with my friend Fethi Nadjem. Fethi is a fantastic violinist from Algeria. Actually, we recorded this song earlier in the year, and I couldn’t wait for the video to be done so we could release it.
A huge thank you to Nicole Fonseca and Holly LaRoche, who created the beautiful dance sequence 4000km away in Vancouver (no flights during lockdown and all).
And of course thank you to the ceaselessly positive DOP Corey Winfield, who never flinches at an early call-time to catch the golden hour.
Jaleo is a Spanish word for a din, a ruckus, pandemonium. It’s also an important part of traditional flamenco: the part where people shout out encouragement. Ironically there is none of that kind in this recording, so please feel free to make your own.
Thanks for watching.
