What’s the deal with Symphyllia?

Symphyllia are some of the most colorful large polyp stony corals out there. Their bodies resemble Lobophyllia in many ways, but unlike Lobos, they have a much more diverse color arrangement. I’ve seen them come in just about every color imaginable and it is very common for them to have large bands of colors. So you might be wondering why I am filming them here and not at my greenhouse like all the other corals I’ve done up to this point. Well, the truth of the matter is, I don’t do very well with Symphyllia, or should I say they don’t do well in my care. So unfortunately, as colorful and amazing as these corals are, a no-go for me until some epiphany comes to me and I figure out what is wrong with my system.
