Process oriented Psychology (Processwork) Intro by Arnold Mindell, Esalen 1988, Part 1

This video, which Amy broke down into 4 parts for YouTube, was filmed in 1988 when Amy and Arny were the invited “teachers in residence“ at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. In this introductory video, Arny gives an informal yet comprehensive and interactive description of his development of process work. The 4 parts include theory, case examples, inner and dyad experiential exercises. Though this film was made in the 80’s, the teachings are still relevant today. In Part 1, Arny speaks about his history and background in science and in Jungian psychology. He speaks about the Dreambody and stresses the importance of unifying psychology with movement, family, political, and group work. He stresses the cross cultural nature of process work and its various applications as well as how the healing/medical model integrates with the meaningful nature of body symptoms/experiences.
