J. S. Bach “no. 1 from Die Kunst der Fuge“ The New Dutch Academy and Simon Murphy

The New Dutch Academy Chamber Soloists directed by Simon Murphy (Baroque Viola), featuring Vega Montero Sanchez de las Matas (Violone and Baroque Bass), performing the programme “Turn it up! -- Bach and the Bass“ in the Kloosterkerk, The Hague. On the programme: Selections from Johann Sebastian Bach’s polyphonic masterwork Die Kunst der Fuge (The Art of Fuge), music for solo bass including Recercars from Diego Ortiz’s Trattado de glossas and Bartolomeo de Selma y Salaverde’s Fantasia, Arcangelo Corelli’s Trio Sonata Op 4 nr. 1 together with some of Bach’s most classic basslines - Chorale from Cantata 140 „Wachet auf, runft uns die Stimme“, Chorale (Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring) from Cantata no. 147 „Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben“, Air from Orchestral Suite no. 3 and the Badinerie from Orchestral Suite no. 2. Also performing: Aira Maria Lehtipuu and Hanneke Wierenga (Violin), Caroline Kang (Violoncello), Karl Nyhlin (Theorbo and Baroque Guitar)
