But the final woman to be executed on the device with the slanted blade was Germaine Leloy-Godefroy who plotted and carried out a horrific murder of her husband. Germaine Godefroy fell in love with a younger man and she plotted to kill her husband and run off with the man she had an affair with. She would take an axe and would brutally slay her husband and with this she was sentenced to death. But following this she was held inside of Angers Prison to await her execution, and she became the last woman in France who faced the guillotine.
