After going through a few line-up changes, in 2023 the band defined itself as a duo with Bea taking over the drums and backing vocals and Telmo in charge of the guitar, bass and main vocals. After this, the band immediately began working on new songs and redefining their sound. In just a few months, “Through Life ’till Death“ (the band’s debut EP) was recorded. This EP was captured in just 25 hours, spread over 3 days at Studio Lote 71, owned by Hugo Ferrão, the person chosen by the Cruz brothers to immortalize this intense musical piece of sweat, blood and soulfulness. Despite not being big fans of genre defining titles, the duo draws on a wide range of influences from several heavy musical genres, which go from Death Metal to Punk and Thrash, including some Black metal. Spitgod’s sound is characterized mainly by its sound density and furious intensity. Don’t be fooled by the small number of band members, the low key used brings their sound to an immense and deep wall of distortion that will tear the skin off your face and send you deep into the darkest, claustrophobic catacombs of your mind. Fast, relentless, straightforward riffing, perfectly entwined with the blast beats and d-beat tempos of the thunderous drums and sudden tempo changes are some of the band’s musical highlights. FFO: The Accüsed, Benediction, Venom, Discharge, Celtic Frost, Black Flag *ALBUM MESSAGE/LYRICAL THEMES (words by Telmo Cruz):* With the EP “Through Life ’till Death“, we aim to celebrate our blood brothers’ bond who are avid music enthusiasts and share the same passion for both the creative process, the act of performing live and sharing our music with everyone, which is something intimate and personal to us, along with everything that entails, such as traveling, meeting new places, and new people. “Through life ’till death“ is the result of a joint effort of deep personal immersion and exploration, where the fact that there are only two of us allowed us to intensely explore certain aspects without external interference, so to speak, translating it into music. Basically, it’s the transformation of personality into the musical form of art. As for the title itself, it basically states that we want to enjoy and do what we love until death. Meaning, Rock n’ Roll. Regarding the themes of the songs themselves, there were no specific guideline.
