Queen Elizabeth II Hosts Garden Party at Holyrood Palace (1990) | Royal History

On 11 July 1990, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. Joined by her mother, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother; her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; and her daughter, Princess Anne, Princess Royal, the Queen welcomed hundreds of guests into the royal grounds. A garden party is held at the palace every year, as part of ’Royal Week’ (also known as ‘Holyrood Week’), an annual celebration of Scottish culture. The first Royal Week of the reign of King Charles III began on 3 July 2023.
