The migration wave that brought about the end of the Sumerians #shorts #sumerian #akkadian

The Sumerians were among the most advanced societies of their time, distinguished by the cities they established and the systems they developed. The people were living in prosperity, happiness, and security. This continued for a considerable period of time. This would change 100 to 150 years before the fall of the Sumerians. This was because a people known as the Akkadians began to flood into Sumerian cities seeking employment. While some Sumerians opposed them, others saw them as cheap and easily exploitable labor, treating them as if they were slaves. Initially, everything seemed to be going well for a while. Until a drought that would affect the entire region emerged. Growing and strengthening over time, the Akkadians chose to arm themselves in the face of this situation, burning down any Sumerian cities that stood in their way. A clay tablet from the last days of the Sumerians read: “WE DIDN’T REALIZE IT, WE WERE TOO LATE. OMG GOD, THESE VILLAINS WILL DESTROY US ALL. GOD FORGIVE US, MAYBE THOSE WHO COME AFTER US WILL LEARN A LESSON.“ The Sumerians took their place in the dusty pages of history as a result of drought and the Akkadian uprisings.
