Anti-aircraft guided missiles for Russia’s renowned S-400 Triumph air defence system are assembled at the Avangard factory in Moscow. RT’s Yulia Shapovalova toured the plant that was a top-secret facility in Soviet times. Avangard is one of the world’s oldest manufacturers of anti-aircraft missiles, which turns 80 in January 2022. It was built during the Second World War, and is the only company producing anti-aircraft guided missiles for the S-300 Favorite and S-400 Triumph air defence systems. The S-400 is supplied to the Russian Army and exported as part of military-technical cooperation with China, India and Turkey. The S-400 system’s primary uniqueness lies in its guided missiles. Russia’s S-400 Triumph air defence system relies on the products made there. The S-400 Triumph is a superior air defence system.
