Bei dir war es immer so schön ... Willy Berking und seine Solisten (Berlin, 1941)

These past few weeks I have been toying around with some new recording and editing software and this video is the first result.... “Bei dir war es immer so schön“ (Lit With you life was so beautiful) was composed by Theo Mackeben for the musical stage comedy “Anita und der Teufel“ wich starred Rosita Serrano. The song was a massive hit for Serrano and many different versions were recorded in the 1940s and the decades that followed... Today’s video features a very nostalgic version by Willy Berking and his orchestra - released on a Belgian wartime Imperial pressing which is in surprisingly good condition. The song was a considerable succes in France as well where it was known as “Sans toi, je n’ai plus rien“ (Lit. Without you I have nothing left). Several of these versions can be found in my channel : : Jacques Météhen & son Orchestre (1942) : Léo Marjane (1942) : Le Chanteur Sans Nom (1942) About the record : “Bei dir war es immer so schön“ Willy Berking und seine Solisten Imperial 30649 / mx.
