The namesake of Sid Davis Productions was an American director and producer who specialized in social guidance films. Born in Chicago in 1916, Davis’ family moved to Hollywood when he was a child where he entered the film industry as a child actor landing small roles. In November 1949 Linda Joyce Glucoft, a six-year-old girl in Los Angeles was molested and murdered. The tragedy struck a chord with Davis, who thought of the dangers his own six-year-old daughter could face and moved him to begin producing social guidance and safety films. He ended up making dozens of them, all aimed at young people, and established himself as one of the premiere creators of cautionary educational films.
