This project creates a new perspective for a timeless album like “The Dark Side of The Moon“, while maintaining its sonic essence and spirit, with great care and skill. “Jazz Side of the Moon (The Music of Pink Floyd)” was recorded in 2007 in the beautiful acoustic setting of St. Peter’s Church in New York using custom electronics from Chesky Records, allowing for the purest and most natural sound recording possible, for an audiophile experience like no other. Extensive liner notes chronicle the sound recording process with exclusive behind-the-scenes insights. The album (released in 2008) incredibly manages to combine jazz, rock, Pink Floyd and their masterpiece (an album memorized a thousand times) which is played by a quartet that rereads it, transforming it into a standard like the great American songs by Berlin, Porter and Gershwin. Credit goes to guitarist Mike Moreno who intelligently chooses not to sound like Gilmour, but instead somewhere between Frisell and Metheny ... and this is one of the album’s winning choices. 2023 was the 15th anniversary of the release of “Jazz Side Of The Moon” and the album was re-released in limited edition 180g black vinyl with cosmic splashes worldwide on May 25th. Highly recommended to everyone, even to those who have never listened to jazz! 00:00 Breathe 06:29 On the run (pt 1) 10:12 Time 21:12 Any colour you like 23:30 The great gig in the sky 32:12 Money 39:01 Us and them 45:24 Brain damage 51:44 On the run (pt 2) Sam Yahel - Hammond B3 Organ Mike Moreno - Electric and Acoustic Guitars Ari Hoenig - Drums Seamus Blake - Tenor Saxophone
