HOW IT WORKS: Sikorsky H-19 Helicopter

The H-19 “Chickasaw“, which was a multi-purpose role used by the United States, is credited with many innovations which were forward placement of the engine below the crew compartment and in front of the cabin, with offset flapping hinges located 9 in (229 mm) from center rotor, and use of hydraulic servos for the main rotor controls. This allowed for more versatile capabilities than previous designs.
