Japan Earthquake Live Updates: Tsunami Warning After Enormous Tremor | Japan | N18G Japan earthquake today: A massive earthquake of 6.9 magnitude jolted southern Japan’s Miyazaki Prefecture on Thursday. According to the USGS, the epicentre of the Thursday earthquake was in the sea at a depth of 30km. Seconds later, a powerful after-shock of 7.1 magnitude struck 20 km North-East of Nichinan city at a depth of 25 km. The officials have issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake. As per NERV, an earthquake monitoring agency of Japan, the tremor was reported in the Hyuga-Nada Sea. Officials say that waves of up to 1 metre are expected in the after-effect of the earthquake. Those residing near the coastal areas, rivers, or lakes have been advised to move to safer locations immediately.
