John McLaughlin + Zakir Hussain + 4th Dimension: Abstract Logix New Universe Festival (2010)

Download: The date of the performance is Nov 21, 2010. Ustad Zakir Hussain surprised us all by showing up at the festival to be next to his musical brother John McLaughlin. The 4th Dimension was the headling act that night after which there was a musical tribute to Johnji by the gang of musicians. (Jimmy Herring, Wayne Krantz, Alex Machacek, Matt Slocum, Ranjit Barot, Jeff Sipe and others). The band played a stellar set of music and right before the encore, Zakir Bhai got up on stage on a borrowed set of tablas and make shift seat out of speaker cases. What happened between Z Bhai and Johnji is nothing short of musical magic. No rehearsals, nothing. Pure telepathy. Every musician on and off stage, everyone in the audience completely blown away.
