This video takes a brief look at citations and references for three common referencing styles: APA, Harvard and MLA.
A citation (also called in-text citation) is a specific source used in the main body of a text. It is short-hand format, as it does not contain full biographical information. A reference (also called work cited) is the long-hand format of the in-text citation, giving the full biographical details, such as author, publisher/URL, title, etc. It is contained in the Reference Section (also called Works Cited List) at the end of the work, and allows the reader to find the text easily.
